WhatsOnToday.co.uk is going to be a straightforward answer to a question people ask every week: what is actually on near me, today?
Read this bit first
Nothing listed on this site is a real event. There is no live events feed behind it yet. Every listing you can see was written by hand to show what a real one will look like, at venues that don’t exist, and every one carries a “Sample” marker.
We’ve done it that way on purpose. The alternative — filling the page with real venue names and made-up dates to make it look busy — would eventually send somebody out on a Friday night to a show that was never happening.
What’s actually working
- The search and the filters. They run over the sample listings, and they’re the same ones that will run over real data.
- The city and category pages, and the sitemap.
- Both forms. They reach a real inbox and a real person reads them.
What isn’t
- No live listings, no ticketing, no bookings, no accounts and no payments.
- No “events near you” — there’s no location lookup yet, so the location filter is a city picker.
- No event counts, no ratings, no “most popular”. We’d have to invent every one of those numbers, so we haven’t shown any.
Where the real listings will come from
Two places. Organisers telling us directly — which is what the list your event form is for — and feeds from the big ticketing platforms. Until at least one of those is connected, the site stays marked as a preview and stays out of search results.
